July 19, 2011 Sunrise 5:57 a.m.

"The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people."    Randy Pausch

July 7, 2011 Sunrise 5:49 a.m.

"Have you not done tormenting me with your accursed time! It's abominable! When! When! One day, is that not enough for you, one day he went dumb, one day I went blind, one day we'll go deaf, one day we were born, one day we shall die, the same day, the same second, is that not enough for you?"
SAMUEL BECKETT, Waiting for Godot

"Let us not get so busy or live so fast that we can't listen to the music of the meadow or the symphony that glorifies the forest. Some things in the world are far more important than wealth; one of them is the ability to enjoy simple things."   ~ Dale Carnegie

SUNRISE - June 5, 2011

June 5, 2011 Sunrise 5:43 am

“If only the people who worry about their liabilities would think about the riches they do possess, they would stop worrying. Would you sell both your eyes for a million dollars ... or your two legs ... or your hands ... or your hearing? Add up what you do have, and you'll find that you won't sell them for all the gold in the world. The best things in life are yours, if you can appreciate yourself.”
~ Dale Carnegie

SUNRISE - February 20, 2011

February 20, 2011 Sunrise 6:49 am
A Chinese proverb states, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.  The second best time is now."   It is important to recognize the urgency in what we are doing, yet also understand the value in calmly and efficiently handling our matters.

"Learn to say no to people that are wasting your time. Be polite, but say no. You have your goals, your commitments, and you still take time to be helpful, however everyone has their limits. Learn to say no to those things that are clearly out of your area: you will save time for yourself and you will let the person asking for your help move on to someone that can really help them. Time is all you have, so learn to guard it carefully and of course use it wisely. Say no to people and things when you need to."
-- Edward W. Smith

"Make time for the people you care about ...It's so easy to get caught up in doing and achieving that we often neglect to make time to be with the people we care about most."
-- Donna Smallin

SUNRISE - January 8, 2011

“Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite.  Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance.  Everyone is just waiting”.  ~ Dr. Seuss

January 8, 2011 Sunrise 7:24 am
Perhaps the immense value of TIME is wasted on the young.  Only as one begins to count the grains of sand left in the hourglass, does the true worth of golden time begin to dawn (the precursor to Sunrise) on each of us.

“Good things come to those that wait”.  (…Is an English phrase propounding the virtue of patience) Waiting for what or whom?  It is ‘seize the day’, not ‘wait for the day’.  How about ‘death comes early to those that wait’ or ‘wait not and want not’ or as Benjamin Franklin said: “You may delay, but time will not”.
January 8, 2011 Sunrise 7:24 am

"We wait. We are bored.        No, don't protest, we are bored to death, there's no denying it. Good. A diversion comes along and what do we do? We let it go to waste... In an instant all will vanish and we'll be alone once more, in the midst of nothingness!"    - Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot
