SUNRISE - May 31, 2011

May 31, 2011 Sunrise 5:43 am

"There are many inequities in the world, but one thing we all have in common is the same amount of time each day. God has allotted twenty-four hours to each one of us. Perhaps, because we are products of our fast-paced society, we tend to think and act as though God has short changed us when it comes to time. It is not uncommon to hear comments like, “There just isn’t enough time in a day to do everything I need to do.” “I just don’t know where the time goes.” “I’ll try to find time, but I’m hard pressed for time at the present.” In our day when many people meet themselves coming and going, most people feel pushed for time. The feeling is that there simply aren’t enough hours in a day. Life with all its demands is far too busy.

We fill our conversations with phrases which convey the rush of our modern times. Along with the statements just mentioned, we speak of the peak or rush hour of the day, or we tell family members to get a move on because we don’t have all day. We regularly use words like urgent, priority, or pressing. There was a time when we viewed telegrams as adequate for sending vital information. But today, not only do we have the telephone, fax, email, and the Internet, but we have priority mail, even next-day delivery so we can send an important document or package the very next day thousands of miles away.

With all our modern conveniences and technological advances we should have more leisure time than any period in history, but the opposite is really the case. For most people it’s run, run, run, go, go, go, and so much so most people seem to be out of breath."

Time in a Bottle -

May 28, 2011 Sunrise 5:45 am
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
Time in a Bottle, Greatest Love Songs, by Jim Croce  But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
Classic Hits, by Jim CroceBut there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth - and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

"One summer morning at sunrise a long time ago
I met a little girl with a book under her arm.
I asked her why she was out so early and
she answered that there were too many books and
far too little time. And there she was absolutely right."

"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum.   We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us."   — Charles Bukowski

Well, we are still here, as is everybody I know.  Looks as if we will have to create our own rapture and enjoy yet Another Day in Paradise.

SUNRISE: May 20, 2011

May 20, 2011  Sunrise 5:50 am
Some purport that tomorrow May 21, 2011 is The End of Days", so this may be my last post.  In case this is announcement misinformation, I have already gathered information for tomorrow night's post...

On Christmas day, 2010, I started a new daily blog for myself, that, although I share it with those I love, it is mostly for me:  SUNRISE and TIME.   Some times I ramble, but mostly I post a just few quotes about the use of the TIME given us. That is what I choose to put into my head each day.  A lot of the quotes I post are from people that are long since dead.  Do they live on in my posts?  Is my life richer by reading, internalizing, applying and sharing their thoughts and observations?

Some quotes are famous, some are not.  They all have a thread that we all share.  How valuable is our time?  Long or short, how do we choose to invest it and use the hours we were given.  Centuries ago, human beings were dealing with the same crisis of how they used the time given them and how much of that illusive gift of TIME they might have left.  Nothing has changed, other than we are richer for the thoughts they left behind.

When that final day comes for me, my hope is that I will accept the moment, regretting little, knowing I have loved much, lived well and hopefully, positively impacted a few.

Sarah - Ballet Demonstration

Sarah- Principal Cellist
outdoor concert 5-14-11
Fantastic performing arts day for us Saturday.  Sarah played with her school orchestra at an outdoor concert at her school in the morning (very cold and windy), then off to her annual ballet demonstration dance for her class in the afternoon and then 'open-mic' night for May for Bob.  Performed 2 of his 3 song play list - a bit better than last time.  Goal is to have two new songs each month.

My teacher is going to help the 'Family Von Welton' with a Violin (or piano), Cello, Bass rendition of 'House of the rising Sun for the three of us to perform live at an upcoming open mic night.  How cool will that be?
