SUNRISE - January 4, 2011

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life.  But there was always some obstacle in the way.  Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid.  Then life would begin.  At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.  ~Alfred D'Souz

If a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, when, where and how does the journey to one's ultimate realization of the meaning of their life begin?

It is said that we are all born knowing the truth of everything.  We then spend our lives  wandering, denying the truth we already know, trying to find a more convenient truth.  If we are fortunate, we grasp the idiocy of this path before we die and regain that which was always ours.

SUNRISE January 1, 2011

January 1, 2011 Sunrise 7:25 am
"Every man should be born again on the first day of January.  Start with a fresh page.  Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past."  ~Henry Ward Beecher

Made it!.  Going through some rather invasive Cancer treatment in the latter part of 2008, there were moments when I was confronted with deep and dark concerns about my limited future here on beautiful planet earth.  Due to the miracle of this era's modern medicine and to perhaps a certain extent, the power of positive thinking, I have arrived safe and sound, baggage in hand, eyes open in wonderment over the infinite possibilities of what 2011 will bring.

"The Old Year has gone.  Let the dead past bury its own dead.  The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time.  All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!"  ~Edward Payson Powell

May we all successfully bury the old demons, embrace (with accolades to W.E. Henley) 'whatever Gods there may be', and stay and finish strong in our most precious endeavors.

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me, and I'm feeling' good." - Adam Lambert song

Happy New Year
